Update ~ October 1-5, 2018

CELEBRATING SUCCESS...
Congratulations to John Eder, CHS Band Director, and Page Ballard, CHS Intervention Teacher for their recent and well-deserved recognition as F.U.S.D Legendary Teachers. Jon and Page were honored at last week's board meeting for their many years of service and for making a difference in the lives of their students. We are fortunate, and our students are privileged to have these two extraordinary people in our Panther family.
Also at the board meeting, CHS student, Sean Hutchison joined the governing board as a student advisor to the governing board.  Sean was an excellent participant and represented CHS with enthusiasm, pride, and poise.

LEAN IN...
The word on the street is there is a lot of misunderstanding about the 100% Measurement  Achievement in the grade book. Achievement is intended to reflect evidence of learning. which is collected from multiple sources over time in relation to standards and is, potentially, as diverse as the students, teachers, and the various disciplines. What goes in the grade book is determined by your professional discretion regarding evidence of learning.
Below are some examples of what might be considered evidence of learning. This list not exhaustive, nor all-inclusive, but will hopefully clear up the rumor that only "Tests" go in the grade book.
Evidence of Learning
Work samples
Demonstrations
Performance tasks
Projects
Teacher observations
Discussions
Written reflections
Journal entries
Essays
Oral Interviews
Class work
Tests, Quizzes, Common assessments

THIS WEEK...
Remember this is CHS Homecoming Week.  50 years panther strong!  Please refer to the homecoming schedule for this week's bell schedule and events.
