Last PantherReport SY 2014-15

Celebrating Success
WE made it! Well, almost...As this year comes to a close, somehow this quote seems apropos:  " I learned there are troubles of more than one kind.  Some come from ahead, others from behind.  But I've bought a big bat.  I'm all ready, you see.  Now my troubles are going to have trouble with me."
                                                                                      -Dr. Seuss

We haven't really needed a bat, but I really do appreciate your willingness to forge ahead and prove to everyone, how great we are.  Lots of positive press and people are talking about CHS in a positive way, I might add. Thank you all for pressing on through the ups and downs of this school year. I hope you have a wonderful and relaxing summer. My gratitude to each of you…it is truly and honor and privilege to lead this amazing school.

Congratulations to Brian Locke for completing the rigorous and lengthy process required to be recognized by the National Automotive Technician's Education Foundation (NATEF) as a NATEF accredited Autos program. CHS is now one of seven schools in the state of Arizona to hold this certification. This is a great honor for CHS and Brian has worked very hard for over three years to earn this credential. Please join me in congratulating Brian.

Teacher Check Out
Please refer to the documents given out at the May prep hour meetings for teacher check out procedures.  Also, don't forget to bring your red emergency folders along with the other documents for check out to the front office. We will be updating Emergency Preparedness documents and redistribute at the beginning of next school year.
Library check out will take place AFTER SCHOOL, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday.
When all of the check out steps are complete, please notify Steve, Cris or me for classroom check out. We will sign off on your purple check list form.  Once you have an admin signature you will complete the check out process with the front office. Remember all administrators will be at graduation on Friday morning and hope to be back at school around 12 noon.

TPEC
Remember that in order for this year's observation/evaluations to be complete you must open TNL and acknowledge the formal observation.  If you had only one formal observation you should have printed, signed and submitted the 2nd Formal Observation Waiver. Once these steps have been completed, the evaluation will be finalized.  Thank you!

Update ~ May 18-22, 2015

Celebrating Success
In spite of the late spring storm, Friday's Senior Service Day and Spring Bash went off without a hitch. The Thank You e-mails I received over the weekend from community members not only expressed appreciation for the help from CHS students, but also shared how kind and courteous our students were as they gave back to the community.  Thank you to Janet Chavez, Gaby Garcia, Tim Fox and all of the senior teachers who supervised the groups.  Thanks to everyone who pitched in this year's combined events were the best yet.
Last week, we also hosted a successful and well attended Awards Ceremony.  Thank you Karen Hughes and counselors for all your work to make this annual ceremony so meaningful. Seeing all of the award recipients and their families in attendance highlighted what a wonderful year it has been for our students and their teachers.
One more reason to celebrate this week was Prom!  This annual event also had a great turn out and it has been said, a dance to remember. Many thanks to Gaby Garcia and all the dance chaperones for ensuring our students were safe and had a great time.

Press On, Panther Strong!  last stretch...
I'm guessing you have noticed that "Senioritis" has set in and beginning to infect not only seniors, but students in other grade levels as well.  We are seeing an increase in minor infractions that include disrespect, defiance and classroom disruption. Please take a few minutes on Monday, and the days to follow to re-teach and remind students of our school wide classroom expectations with a focus on being prepared for class, encouraging self and others and being an active listener.  Remember too, to use your Pawsitive Panther cards to help acknowledge and encourage desired behavior.

Teacher Evaluation
As the year comes to a close, there are a few steps necessary to finalize evaluations:
1. If you are a continuing teacher (more than three years) and you only had one formal observation, be sure you print, sign and submit the waiver to your evaluator. This 2nd observation waiver form can be found at the top of TNL under TPEC 2nd Observation Waiver.
2. Once your observation/evaluations are complete, remember to go to TNL, to the Formal Observation Acknowledgment section and acknowledge that you have received and read your evaluation.
3.  Once these steps are complete, your evaluator will mark complete, and voila formal observations for SY 2014-15 will be complete.
Thank you!
