Last week several CHS CTE students participated in the State SkillsUSA competition. Cayden Curtis, Emilio Apodaca, and Jacob Seff competed in Automotive Technology and Jacob Seff took home the gold medal. Jacob moves on to the national championship in Kentucky in June! Congratulations to all the Skills USA students and teachers and a special congrats to Mr. Locke and Jacob Seff!
CHS art students had another successful art show and reception, this time at Firecreek Coffee House on Route 66. The "Celebrating Water on the Colorado Plateau" exhibit will be running through the end of this month. Congratulations to our award-winning students, Skyler Sommers, Casey Auberle and Rain Varney and their art teachers, Ben Proctor and Kelly Woodruff.
Shout out to Chelsea Lohr and the many teachers who helped make the first week of AzMerit testing go smoothly. It's pretty amazing to organize and orchestrate testing for over one thousand students AND maintain a learning environment for all the rest. Way to go team and thank you, Chelsea.

On a personal note...
Thank you all for the beautiful cards, well wishes, prayers, kind words and hugs as I returned to school following the passing of my mother. Education and learning was everything to my mom and I bragged about you all and our students to her all the time. On her behalf, I thank you for what you do every day. I have included here the link to my mom's (Audrey Wohl) obituary should you have an interest in reading a little about her. Click here
LOOKING AHEAD...
There are two events happening the first week of May that I wanted you all to be aware of.
Building background...Last year our CHS Library received a generous donation from the family of Dr. Jane Julien. Dr. Julien was one of the first librarians at CHS and during her tenure, she made significant strides in technology and library improvements.
In honor and memory of Dr. Julien, we are renaming our CHS library to be the Dr. Jane Julien Library at Coconino High school.
May 1, we will host an open house reception and everyone will be invited to enjoy refreshments and see the new "Technology Reading Corner." We will send details soon but wanted you to be aware.
Also,
May 2 is our annual Spotlight on Success Faculty meeting. This is a time to share with one another the points of pride from each department. A formal presentation is not necessary but between now and May 2 you might want to choose a spokesperson for your department to share a brief two-minute highlight at the Spot Light on Success Meeting.
