Gratitude
A big huge thank you to the office staff for organizing and running a highly successful week of registration, the best ever! Thanks also to our CHS counselors for meeting with, what seemed to be, thousands of students and their parents, to make sure schedules were correct and our students are off to a great start. Also, a special thank you to our entire custodial staff who worked all summer to make our building shine. If you haven't seen the court yards, you have to take a look, who knew they were so lovely :) Thanks Team!

On Tuesday you will receive detailed information about our first two days with students. For those of you who were here last year, the schedule will be much the same. In case it is not fresh in your mind or you are new to CHS below is a preview of the first two days; August 6 & 7 (I promise it will all make sense when we have a chance to explain the schedule in person).
Students will begin the day in their 3rd hour homerooms. Homeroom time will be devoted to taking care of school business such as: Taking school photos, getting IDs, text book distribution, attending the Clubs and activities Fair and attending an Administrator Assembly. These events will occur on a rotation schedule. We will have combined lunch on Thursday and Friday followed by thirty minute class periods.
Lunch 11:15-11:45 30

7 1:55-2:20 25
I know you already have plans for your first day with students, but IF you are looking for something more or maybe different, you might ask your students to set goals for the school year. Asking students to think about their personal hopes is one way to encourage students to pursue their interests and focus at school. Click here for a recent article in Edutopia that offers some thoughts and ideas about student created learning goals.
Q & A
Q ~ Do I need to set up the voice mail on the phone in my classroom?
A ~ Yes, this is very important. On Thursday and Friday, in lieu of calling groups by the intercom, we will be calling classrooms to notify classes when they should report to the various stations during the back to school days with students. Click here for phone instructions.
Q ~ Will we get a schedule of Faculty Meetings for the school year?
A ~ Yes, this will be provided at our back to school meeting on Tuesday, August 4. Our first faculty meeting will be August 18, at 2:45pm (Please mark your calendar)
Q ~ When is our back to school night-Open House?
A ~ Thursday, August 20 5:30-7:00pm (Please mark your calendar)
Q ~ When are we to begin meeting in our Collaborative Teams?
A ~ In order to help you all settle into school and your classrooms, you will not be expected to formally meet in collaborative teams until late August. Our first School-wide Professional Learning Community Mtg will be, August 26, 1:15-3:00pm. Until then you are free to use Wednesday afternoons as you see fit.

Key and Peel imagine what it would be like if we obsessed over teachers the way we do with athletes. Love this...click here for a little inspiration and smiles. Q & A
