Update ~ March 9-13, 2015

Celebrating Success
Congratulations to our CHS Transition Team for another successful Employment Encounter.  Over 50 Flagstaff area businesses and agencies were represented and over 300 students from five high schools attended this important event.  A special thank you to Gina Kuegler and Kally VanderValk for all their hard work to make this event a great success.

Classroom Instruction
Many of you have heard of or may even be using Cornell Note-taking guides in your classrooms. Sinagua Middle School (our feeder school) requires that teachers teach, and students use this style of note-taking.  I recently read the book Drive by Daniel Pink and subsequently subscribed to the author's newsletter.  In this month's edition of the newsletter there was an interesting tidbit about Cornell Notes. I hope you will find time to read this and perhaps find this style of note-taking to be useful in your classroom. Click here to read the article.  (I have also included a template on the right side of this blog under frequently used forms).  And, if you are looking for a fascinating book about "The Surprising Truth About What Motivates Us" you should put Drive on your list of must reads.

This is a reminder that we have prep hour meetings this Tuesday, March 10.  Prep hour meetings will take place in room 204.  The topics for the meeting will be; Spring Testing updates, Collaborative Team work, April 1, 8th grade visitation, CHS Showcase Spring Open House and Spot Light on Success.
