Celebrating Success: So many things went right at CHS this week, I don't know where to start. So I'll just list them in no particular order. The Talent Show was top notch. 8th Grade Orientation went as smooth as silk. Our Link Crew Leaders were shining stars as they hosted over 350 middle school students serving as CHS guides. Our CTE Student Leaders demonstrated and taught our incoming Freshmen with the confidence and knowledge of experts in the field. CHS Teachers so proudly exhibited all the tremendous programs, classes, activities, clubs, athletics and academic courses available at our amazing school during the Academic Fair and Open House. The Culinary Arts Department provided the most delicious cookies ever made. Our first lunchtime student Focus Meeting attracted about 100 students who spoke honestly about their feelings and ideas about how to improve our school. Five of our band students were selected for the All-State Band. And, if that's not enough, this weekend our CocoNut Robotics Team took home the much coveted Chairman's Award at the Regional Competition in Phoenix. And the grand finale... Christine Sapio was named The National F.I.R.S.T. Robotics Teacher of the Year. Congratulations Christine for the well deserved honor. This is truly an extraordinary school. Panther Pride indeed.
Registration
On Monday we will be piloting student on-line registration. We are really excited about this and hope it helps to make the registration process more accurate and efficient. This week our "Rising Seniors" will be going to the computer labs during their English classes to begin preliminary registration.
Announcement
FYI..Monday morning there will be a rather long but very important message about a couple of health and safety issues at CHS. Please ask your students to listen carefully to this morning announcement.
New After School Club at CHS
This Thursday, March 29 there will be an interest meeting during both lunches for students who would be interested in participating in a "Garage Band" music club.
Monitoring and Duty Stations
The more adults we have in the hallways during passing periods and transition times, the fewer behavior problems we will have. Teachers, please help deter problem behaviors by being in the hallways between class periods. The more visible we are and the more we can show that we care, the more more apt our students will be to do the right thing. Thanks in advance for your help and cooperation.
Just a reminder that we changed duty days and some duty stations at semester. Please double check your assigned day and place and make every effort to be at your assigned location. I will send the duty list out via email on Monday.
