Update ~ April 16-20, 2018
CELEBRATiNG SUCCESS...
The RedforEd events of the past week have certainly drawn long overdue attention to the financial plight of Arizona Teachers.
Congratulations to all the participants, now we'll keep our fingers crossed, hope and pray that the Governor's response and promise for a real pay raise come to fruition.
HIRING PROGRESS UPDATE...
We are working side by side with the human resource department to open positions, review applicants and interview candidates in search of the best teachers to fill the big shoes of all who are leaving CHS. Thank you to the department chairs and department members, for your help in this process.
To date, we have several math positions filled (still waiting to hear back from a few) and we have hired a new counselor. English teacher interviews are in process and we will be selecting candidates for interviews for our Special Education positions this week and next. Soon to follow will be CTE (welding), P.E. and Tier 3 RTR.
As you all now know we are also in search of an assistant principal position. I am in the process of forming the hiring committee. My plan is to include district level representation, one CHS classified representative (Becky Gonzales), our Athletic Director, a parent and one teacher. If you have an interest in participating on this hiring committee, please email me by tomorrow, 4/16 at 5:00pm. Once I hear from you I will share the proposed schedule for meetings, application review, and interviews. Please note, the schedule will include evenings, one of the snow day make up days (May 10) and a Saturday in May.
I hope you will join us for our fond farewell gathering on Friday, May 18, 4:00 pm at Salsa Brava. This is a tough year for CHS, we are saying goodbye to some of the very best.
GRADUATION...
The CHS 2018 Commencement Ceremony is on the horizon. Our ceremony will take place at the NAU Skydome on June 1 at 3:00pm. As always all faculty and staff are invited to attend and sit in the VIP section on the field with the graduates. Last year teachers formed a high five semi-circle that people are still talking about. I highly encourage you to attend this special event. FYI NAU now follows the Clear Bag Policy for all events at the dome. Click here for details about the policy.
