Ch...ch...ch...changes
The good news is not a lot of changes for next year, yay! But, some refinements for sure.
RTR We will now have a Tier 2 and Tier 3 RTR structure
Tier 2 RTR will be in room 204. Jim McNeese and Greg Rieff will split this position
Tier 3 RTR (In school suspension Room) will be in room 213 and the teacher will be Jim Popham
We will explain the dynamics of the refined RTR system during our back to school "Panther University" on Friday August 9.
Thursday Pathways and ASP
In our efforts to decrease movement on Thursday afternoons the structure will look a bit different than last year.
On Thursdays 3rd period will have an additional 15 minutes to take the place of ASP.
Pathways will be designed as study hall and intervention and there are a few "clubs" that will hold meetings during this time as well. Instead of overwhelming you with details now, I will include the outline in my next Panther Report.
Mark your calendars
August 7 ~ Teachers back to School (301 day)
August 8 ~ A.M. Barbara Hickman welcoming address and district wide department meetings (Teachers work in classroom if not involved in district meetings)
12:00 - 3:00 PM *Multi-Agency Safety Simulation
August 9 ~ A.M. Time to work in your classrooms --- P.M. Panther University
* This simulation will mimic a real live event involving multi casualties and multi agencies. The purpose of the drill is to help us be as well prepared for an emergency of this magnitude as possible. Daniel Vandervalk and Theresa Freas have agreed to act as victims. If you would like to be an observer during the simulation please let me know, otherwise teachers will remain behind closed doors until the drill is complete. We anticipate the event to last about two hours. Please note that there will be no movement in and out of the building or in the hallways during the simulation. If remaining in your classroom for this long period doesn't sound appealing, you are welcome to make plans outside of the building for Thursday afternoon, just remember there will be no entering or exiting the building between 12:00PM-2:00PM.
School Climate
The S3 team has looked carefully at school wide climate data and determined that we need focus some attention on a Compassion Campaign (AKA Anti-bullying). We will begin the school year with a school wide assembly on August 27 called Rachel's Challenge. The theme of Rachel's challenge is basically To Be Kind (TBK), Treat others with Respect, Care deeply, Dream Big, and not give up no matter what. Click Rachel's Challenge to learn more.
