Celebrating Success
The inaugural Coconino Multicultural Fair was a success! Lots of participation in the activities and students were especially attentive and respectful respectful during the performances! We couldn't have asked for anything better for our first year.  This fair seemed to appeal to a wide range of students, especially those who on other occasions such as pep assemblies, have been uninterested or disengaged. Building a sense of connectedness was the primary goal and the reason the Mecha club organized this event.  Thank you Janet Chavez and the MEChA Club and LaShia Sharfenberger and the AISIS Club for sponsoring this successful event. We look forward to making it a CHS tradition.

Observations/Evaluations
As we approach the final days of school, CHS administration is working on completing the formal observation and evaluation process. As you know the TPEC tool is new to all of us.  There are a few steps that have to occur in order to finalize the process for this school year. If you have already been observed and have had a chance to view your evaluation, please go to Truenorth logic, Teacher Comment Section and check the "Acknowledge" button.  It is section #6 "Formal Observation Comments (TEACHER). Once you have done this, we will check complete and close out TPEC for CHS.

PLCs
Each year FUSD principals are evaluated by the superintendent.  Last year we were asked to develop professional goals. One of my goals was to promote and support high functioning collaborative teams within our school wide Professional Learning Community. In preparation for my post observation conference, I have been reflecting on our progress toward this goal. Our accomplishments this year include a focus on aligning curriculum with our instruction. We spent the better part of the fall term looking carefully at our current standards and identifying the essential learning outcomes (ELOs) for each subject matter. The next step was to create Content Objectives aligned with the identified ELOs and finally to begin the process of creating, analyzing and using common assessments. What I did not plan for was the time we would need to spend on learning the Common Core Standards. I want to let you all know how much I appreciate your willingness, open mindedness and flexibility with our Wednesday Collaborative Team work. With all that said, the next four Wednesdays are open for you to use your time as you see fit. We will resume our focused PLCs next school year with the goal of looking carefully at the common core standards, examining student achievement data to help identify students in need of increased time and support and offer timely directive and systematic interventions.  Thanks for staying the course everyone and I promise Thursdays will be new and improved next year!

Celebrations
An end of the year party is in the works.  We have some Coconino teachers who are are officially retiring this year and we would like to honor them at a special end of gathering. Please tentatively add to your list of end of year activities Thursday, May 23 at 4:00PM End of year party and retiree recognition. Becky is working on securing the location, checking in with retirees and confirming details. We will be sending invitations with confirmed date, time and location soon.
