Celebrating Success
Welcome back from the nice long weekend.  Happily I think we are meeting the challenge of the waning days of the school year. These past few weeks have been filled with a lot of positive activity and excitement. Last week concluded with a very successful Prom.  Saturday night was...
Tres Magnifique.  The theme of the prom was Midnight in Paris and the location was transformed into elegant street in Paris and included a 20 foot replica of the Eiffel Tower.  Over 300 students were there and at one point all of them were on the dance floor. Thanks Gaby Garcia, Erin Motes, dance chaperones and student council for a wonderful evening.

As you know last Thursday CHS Teachers and Students rolled up their sleeves and went to work in a serious way. In the spirit of giving back The annual Senior Community Service day was truly a special day where our students showed Flagstaff that they really do care - Each group went above and beyond to help our community. A special thank you to Janet Chavez, Cris ray and all who helped make our CHS Senior Service Day super successful.

Earlier last week 15 of CHS' extraordinary students (Top 5% of the graduating class) were recognized and honored at the annual Elks Club Banquet. The very next day our counselors, along with the CHS Academic Booster club, organized and hosted a beautiful awards banquet.  Over 200 proud CHS family members and outstanding students gathered to pay tribute to their successes. As Cris said in her email, it was an amazing event and a pride full evening for the Panther Family. A special thank you to Karen Hughes and the counseling department for a great job!

And the week of celebration didn't end there...
Thursday was the annual Native American Honor Ceremony. All of our 9, 10. 11 and 12th grade Native American Students on who made the Honor Roll were honored and recognized by family and community members at an elegant ceremony and luncheon at NAU.  Thank you LaShia and Joyce for your help with this event.

More to celebrate...

Along with the spirit of giving many CHS students donated their hand crafted bowls for a special event at  heritage square to help raise money for the underprivileged of our community.  Thank you Misty Ostrawski and students for contributing to this worthy cause.

CHS award winning poet, student Kirsty Horton read her award-winning poem at the opening session of this year's Northern AZ Bookfest on Saturday at the Coconino Center for the Arts!

And last but not least I would be remiss if I didn't mention the highlights of our very successful spring sports season...
  • Eleven of our outstanding Track and Field athletes made it to the state Championships
  • The Panther Baseball Team made it all the way to the first round of the state playoffs
  • The Lady Panther Softball team made it all the way to the first round of the state playoffs
  • Two of our Tennis players played in the state championship tournament.
Congratulations Players and Coaches...Go Panthers!!!
